We will be having a special Book Day for PreK – Yr 6 students on Wednesday 14th August. Students are invited to come to school dressed as a book character or dress up related to this year’s Book Week theme which is Read Across the Universe! If students choose not to dress up then they must wear their school uniform to school. It is not a mufti day.
It is important to remember that we are celebrating books and reading and so the Book Week parade is a book character parade and not a movie parade. Can we encourage you to think creatively about the costume but please don’t pay for expensive costume hire.
We will be starting the day with our wonderful Book Character Parade which will run in the hall from approx 8.30am. We are delighted to have an award winning author visiting with us for the day, Ursula Dubosarsky. She will be sharing with the children in separate sessions throughout the day.
Mamre will be holding an Information Evening for students in Year 8 and their parents on Wednesday 4th September. The purpose of the evening is to outline the courses that will be offered to our students in Year 9/2014. The evening will kick off with a BBQ at 6pm and conclude at approximately 7.30pm.
All of our Senior School students will be going on an excursion to Canberra this Friday 6 September - Years 7 & 8 to Questacon and National Gallery; Years 9 & 10 to Parliament House and War Memorial. Students are to wear full winter uniform and be at school by 6am to meet buses. For further information please see note sent home.
Our Junior School will be staging 'It's Cool in the Furnace' on Wednesday 20 November. There will be two performances - 11am and 7pm in the evening. Attendance at the 7pm evening performance is compulsory for all Junior School students in years 2-6. Students have been busy preparing for the night so please make a note to keep the evening free!
Year 8 students will have the opportunity to delve into Leichhardt's history as they visit shops, cafes and other sites which played an important role in the Italian presence in Leichhardt in the 50s, 60s and 70s. They will also enjoy a traditional Italian lunch at La Giara Restaurant in the Italian Forum to complete the experience.
This term, Stage 2 are studying 'From Farm to Table' in HSIE. Students will learn about the history of the farm, how dairy farming has changed and what new technology is used. They will observe and be able to milk a cow and make butter.
Please come along and meet your child/ren's teacher. This will be an event for parents of students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 10 and will give you an opportunity to tell the teacher a little bit about your child. This will be held on Monday 17 February at 3.30pm. Please see the note that will be sent home this week.
Junior School will be holding a Grandparents' Day, Easter Chapel and Easter Hat Parade on Friday 11 April. Events will commence from 8.30am and will be followed by morning tea and the school cross country carnival. Please see the note that will be sent home soon.
Anzac Day March - Sunday 13th April – 2.30pm
Meet at Coachmans Park, Queen St, St Marys. March will conclude at Victoria Park, Great Western Highway, where a service will immediately be conducted. After the Service, all attending are invited back to St Marys RSL Club for light refreshments. All in the community are invited to attend and participate in this commemoration.

The CSSA State Cross Country Carnival will be held today at Sydney International Equestrian Centre. This event is for selected senior school and junior school students only. A note will be sent home soon. More information can be found at www.cssa.net.au.
All Mamre Anglican School class, portrait and family photographs will be taken on Wednesday 25th June. Students must wear full winter uniform to school. If they normally have sport on a Wednesday, they are asked to bring their sport uniform as they will need to change at sport time.

Performing Arts Festival (IPSHA) will be held at 7pm at Sydney Town Hall. Selected students will be going to a rehearsal at the Town Hall earlier on the day and returning to school.
Mamre will be hosting the Term 3 Meetings of the Association of Heads of Indendent Schools on Monday 18 August. We ask parents to please use the 'Kiss and Drop' entrance (Eastern Car Park) for that morning. Please also note that the Canteen will be closed on that day. A Sausage Sizzle note has been sent home for students.
