Year 9 Geography Excursion

« Go Back | Date Posted: 09-Apr-2018 |

On a rainy day (21 March), Year 9 went to the Penrith Lakes Scheme as part of their Geography unit on Changing Biomes. They had a chance to see the way the biome was altered across the past century. They completed fieldwork through soil and water testing to analyse the current biodiversity and ecology of the area. Catching organisms with dip nets, students were able to inspect them under the microscope and identify them, discovering whether they were indicative of a highly biodiverse environment. It was a great day of learning through interaction with the environment and we may have ended up with wet feet from the lake’s edge, but the rain stayed away for all of our outside time which was fantastic!
