Mamre Anglican School Football Programs

Purpose

To support the schools strong academic endeavours by having a cutting edge co-curricular, academy style football program. It also aims to develop players’ technical and tactical skills, knowledge and understanding of the game and to set the highest standards for personal growth through sport for both children and adults.

Conditions

Players must be enrolled as students at Mamre Anglican School. There are no playing restrictions placed on players outside of school. Players are free to choose any club to play each season. From 2016 onwards, students wishing to represent MAS in their Football teams MUST be in the Football Development Program.

Eligibility

MAS Football Programs hold open trials throughout the year for players to trial for entry into the Football Development Program. Trials may be organised at alternative times under special circumstances. Any players wishing to be involved in the program MUST be playing football outside of school in some capacity.

Football Development Program

The MAS Football Development Program is structured to cater for players at an elite level. Players identified at trial as being elite or with elite potential will be offered a place in the program. This program is open for students from year 3 to year 12.

The senior school training schedule for the Football Development Program is three 60 minute sessions per week. These sessions include one recovery session utilising the use of a physiotherapist and new facilities including ice baths.

The junior school training schedule involves three 60 minute sessions per week, all involving ball contact.

There are fees associated with this program, as you would expect of any “academy” football program. Players will be advised of total costs upon entry into the program.

Talented Athlete Class

MAS are proud to have the capacity to provide a unique football learning experience for year 7-10 students. This class gives students the opportunity to develop their football knowledge as a subject for 1 lesson per week. This class has limited spaces and entry is determined by trial and interview for elite players.

Joeys Training Program

Our unique Joeys Program was developed to cater for boys and girls that are in the beginning stages of elite development. The Joeys Training Program is designed with an elite focus, to develop technical skills through the discovery stages of learning. This group trains twice a week. Players will be advised of total costs upon entry into the program.

Holistic Approach

MAS acknowledges football as not only a sport but an emerging industry, within the general sports industry, where a range of career opportunities exist. It is our intention to nurture growth in participants in a range of football related disciplines including coaching, refereeing, sports administration and sports media as they progress through their high school years.
